Richa Tigga
Richa is a social worker with over nine years' of experience in the domain of child protection with expertise on child sexual abuse. She has worked with the Central/State Government, and several academic institutions, and NGOs in various capacities.
She started her career with the National Institute of Public Cooperation and Child Development (NIPCCD) under the aegis of Ministry of Women and Child Development and holds research experience with several organisations like the Association for Stimulating Know How (ASK) for a baseline survey in Bangladesh, Childline India Foundation where she was involved in a national project initiated on the directives of the Supreme Court of India for the mapping and review of child care institutions. She was also engaged with Global Social Service Workforce Alliance (GSSWA) for mapping a child protection workforce and capacity gap assessment in Assam.
She has worked with UTSAH and has experience in case management of children who are victims of sexual abuse and was responsible for managing these cases till the completion of trial at designated courts. During her tenure at the National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam, she has trained several child protection stakeholders including police officers, Child Welfare Committee (CWC) members and Chairperson, Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) members and the District Child Protection Unit. She has also worked very closely with Mr. Surendra Kumar (IPS), Inspector General of Police, CID Assam in publishing the book “Role of Duty Bearers in Child Protection”.
At Child Rights and You (CRY), under their UNICEF Project, she held the position of a State Programme Manager and worked towards strengthening institutional mechanisms and system to prevent child marriage, child trafficking and unsafe migration with the West Bengal State Government.
Her core competencies include programme management, stakeholder liaison and advocacy, research, monitoring and evaluation, and grant management.
