Nikhil Kamath
Nikhil wears many hats- he is a trader, entrepreneur, investor, and philanthropist. He started equity trading at the age of 17, and co-founded Kamath Associates at the age of 19 to manage High Net Worth Individual portfolios in the public market space, before going on to co-found Zerodha with his brother Nithin in 2010.
Nikhil is an astute and experienced investor, and he heads financial planning at Zerodha. Nikhil’s passion for analytics and financial markets stems from his unorthodox childhood. His focus and passion has been in developing alternative investment strategies. Today Zerodha is India’s one of the top brokerage and commands a valuation of more than $1 billion and employs 1,500 staff across the country. In August 2019, Nikhil co-founded True Beacon to bring his fund management experience to a global group of Ultra High Net Worth strategic investors.
In 2021, he Co- founded Gruhas along with Abhijeet Pai. Gruhas focuses on Early, Venture, and Debt investment in the PropTech, Climate, content, and Consumer space. More than 25 investments have been done through Gruhas.
Through Zerodha, along with his brother Nithin Kamath, he has committed $100m to Rainmatter Foundation, which supports solutions for climate change, specifically afforestation, ecological restoration, and livelihoods. He is the youngest Indian to sign Bill Gates and Warren Buffet's The Giving Pledge, making a promise to give at least 50 percent of his wealth to charity. Additionally, he is a key figure in the Young India Philanthropic Pledge, a commitment by India’s new age philanthropists to dedicate a minimum of 25% of their wealth to enhance global change, starting with India.
