Kumar Sangakkara
Celebrated Sri Lankan cricketer Kumar Sangakkara joins Rahul Dravid, Bollywood designer Manish Malhotra, popstar Zayn Malik and award winning film director Gurinder Chadha OBE, as an ambassador for the British Asian Trust.
Widely regarded as one of the world’s most influential cricketers, the now retired Sangakkara is a top-order batsman and record breaking wicket keeper with a vast list of honours and awards to his name. He has also been widely praised by the cricketing community, after becoming the youngest and first active international player to deliver the prestigious MCC Spirit of Cricket Cowdrey Lecture – an hour long speech held at Lord’s Cricket Ground in which he spoke out against corruption in the sport.
Welcoming Sangakarra to the Trust, Executive Director Hitan Mehta said: “I would like to thank Kumar for joining the Trust; his contribution to his sport and commitment to championing good causes off the field make him a truly inspirational figure and positive voice for the Trust.”
