Child protection

India has one of the youngest populations in the world, with 431 million under the age of 18. Factors such as lack of access to education, extreme poverty and exposure to harmful online content hamper children’s development, safety, and aspirations. Our Child Opportunity Fund is an ambitious 10-year initiative to provide the best possible opportunities for children to grow and thrive.

“For me, being a Fellow signifies investing in the capacity of an organisation that has proven its ability to deliver impactful results.”

The Fellows

Manoj Badale:

I was privileged to help start the British Asian Trust with HM King Charles when he was Prince Charles in 2007 and I have continued to support the organisation as a Fellow. My investment in the British Asian Trust is driven by their proven track record of creating impactful partnerships between the private sector, civil society, and governments. This collaborative approach ensures that they can achieve change at scale. I am particularly proud of the Trust's use of Social Finance initiatives, like Development Impact Bonds, which represent a pioneering approach to funding social change that is results-oriented and accountable.

Aatif Hassan:

I joined as a Founders Circle member and have progressed to becoming a Fellow and a Trustee. My investment in the capacity of the British Asian Trust is a reflection of my commitment to fostering an environment where the organisation can not only grow but also amplify its impact across South Asia.

By investing in the British Asian Trust, I am contributing to the creation of a sustainable institution that is poised to reach even greater heights in its mission to transform lives.

I was fortunate enough to travel to visit some of the work on the ground in the region and talk to programme participants. To say I was blown away by the impact would be an understatement. It’s genuinely exciting but I feel we have only just got started.

Atif

Chris Mathias:

I was privileged to Chair the British Asian Trust’s Programmes and Partnerships Committee for a over a decade and I am very proud to continue to support the work of the Trust as a Fellow.

As an investor, I am encouraged by the Trust's commitment to transparency and measurable outcomes. The ability to see the tangible impact of my investment—be it in transforming children's education, empowering women with skills for employment, or improving mental health support—reaffirms my belief in the importance of strategic philanthropy that the Trust provides.
