Michael Maqsood
Hello, I’m Michael Maqsood. I was diagnosed with cancer last summer, and went through treatment through most of last year. Thankfully, I am in remission and count this as a blessing amongst the many blessings that I have, including my three beautiful children. It was a difficult time for me in many ways, but it allowed me to reflect on my past, my future, and gave a completely different perspective to the life that I had lived. I had been solely focused on building my business for the last 20 years and nothing else really mattered.
The obstacles in business and life are no longer challenges and I had become quite bored, but when I heard about this cycling challenge, I had a mix of emotions! As a boy, cycling was a passion and I would cycle to school every day, and in the summers my friends and I would cycle to distant places to explore- good times! After my first encounter with cancer back in 2017, I realised that I had to give back to society in my own small way. Since then, I have raised funds for many worthy causes, and I hope to continue to do so. I am looking forward to meeting some amazing people on this ride and forming life-long friendships. After all, life is short.
