Hi, I’m Sanjay!
I’m married to my wife, Rita, and have two sons, Dylan and Viyan. When I’m not in the office or out and about socialising (which I seem to do best!), you’re likely to catch me cycling around my home county of Cheshire or through London’s wonderful Royal Parks. Cycling is a huge passion of mine and has been for many years.
The moment I heard about the British Asian Trust’s fantastic Palaces on Wheels 2021 charity challenge, I knew that this was a cycling event I wanted to be a part of. To me, this is an opportunity to cycle around England’s spectacular areas of natural beauty, pass through some of the country’s magnificent royal houses and palaces, whilst above all, raise money for the very worthy cause supported by the ‘If I Can, She Can’ Appeal.
The poorest areas of South Asia have been left devastated by the impact of COVID-19. The female poverty rate is expected to rise by almost a third to 28 million women and sadly, as a result, their children face a daily threat of hunger. Without any form of income, women cannot afford food. Not only this, but women are also at risk of domestic abuse, underprivileged children are missing out on education, while figures surrounding child trafficking and those suffering with mental health issues, are rising.
Raising funds that will enable the British Asian Trust to support women escape the cycle of poverty, feed and support their family, and educate their children will hopefully, put an end to this tragic situation spiralling out of control.
Supporting children has always been an area that I care about greatly. Through my company, The Fragrance Shop, a donation is made from every online and in-store transaction to our ‘Spray a Little Happiness Foundation’ which supports children’s charities. Donations from both The Fragrance Shop and our customers have to date, raised more than £1.5 million.
Palaces on Wheels is going to be a fantastic event! I’ve no doubt we’ll have lots of fun along the way and I can’t wait to celebrate with everyone in The Crown Pub on the Sunday 😊.
